Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and vehicles used in our excavation and materials production business. You will be based out of our shop in Scituate but will occasionally be required to perform on-site repairs.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues on heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, class 5 trucks and other construction machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, hydraulic system servicing, transmission repairs, and tire service.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics on systems involving wiring harnesses, sensors, switches, and control modules to troubleshoot electrical failures efficiently.
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed for compliance and future reference.
- Support heavy equipment operation when required by assisting with on-site troubleshooting or moving machinery around job sites.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy construction equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems in equipment, air brakes, alignment procedures, and electrical systems.
- Skilled in reading schematics and OEM manuals to accurately diagnose issues.
- Experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Knowledge of farm machinery such as tractors or tractor-trailers is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environmental conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
